Isaac’s story

The Binding of the Isaac: Rebirth is a remake of The Binding of Isaac from 2011. This version is no longer an Adobe Flash application, and it includes a more advanced game engine that results in 60 fps on most PCs. You may also expect new content and gameplay features.

Plot based on the bible

The storyline was inspired by the biblical story of the same name. You will put yourself into the role of a young boy named Isaac, whose mother wants to sacrifice him in the name of God. Convinced she’s fulfilling his will, she strips Isaac of clothes and locks him up in his room. However, the boy escapes and has to fight through the dungeons of the basement.

Peek at the gameplay

While Isaac’s on the run, he has to fight monsters with the weapon of his tears. At some point, you’ll start collecting items, which will modify Isaac’s appearance, attributes, and abilities. The roguelike dungeon levels are procedurally generated through a random seed. Each level contains a few rooms and at least one boss battle.

Play with friends

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth includes a multiplayer mode, unlike the basic game. The random map seeds can be shared, which allows multiple players to fight in the same dungeon layout. The game also allows a second local player to join with a drop-in-drop-out mechanic.
